The Holiday Season!

The holiday season is always my favortie time of the year. Not only is it my favorite time because of the good food and all the presents, but because of the good feeling it brings to everyone. During the holiday season everyone seems to be nicer, and more sincere. This is the most appealing thing about the holidays to me. Duing the time of Thanksgiving and Christmas, you always see more acts of kindness, and that to me is what the holiday season is all about.

The other reason why I love the holiday season so much is because I get a chance to see family that I haven't seen in a long time. During Thanksgiving and Christmas my family always gets together for a big feast, along with playing games, and talking about our future plans. We also have a huge sleepover with all of the girl cousins the day after Christmas. This nights is always one of my favorites, because we bake cookies, muffins, and have a huge breakfast together. We also play games, and give out "Secret Santa" gifts.

I'll always love the holiday season, even though I am not a fan of the snow and cold. Being together with good friends and family is all that matters!

Halloween :)

I'm not sure why, but Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. Maybe it is because for a day I am able to dress up as someone/something completely different.

This year was quite eventful, I was able to make it to quite a few different parties along with meeting up with friends I hadn't seen in a while. I went to a birthday/Halloween party at my friend's place, a costume party, and to our family friend's bar Neuies North Star in La Crosse. There we were  all entered into a costume contest. At the end of the night there were three winners- all of which were people we went with (this just shows how into Halloween we all are)! Here are some pictures of the winners...

1st place winner for $150, Gigi as "Snooki"!

2nd place winners for $75, Jenna and Dylan as "Jen Sterger and Brett Favre"!

3rd place winner for a quarter barrel, Jim as a "Zombie Tranny Truck Driver"!

And here are some other pictures from the night...

                                                                      1920's "Flappers"!

and
Old Fasion Lady with the Plague
"Flo" from the Progressive commercials and Sammie as a clown!

I wish Halloween was more than once a year, I would dress up everyday if i could!

Columbus

My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over a year now, and within that time we have become very close. Not only is he my boyfriend, but he is my best friend. I know this may sound cheesy, but it's the truth ;)

Richie graduated from UW-Madison last December with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and during the past nine months has applied for hundreds of jobs- within the area and even as far away as China. One of the jobs he was very interested in was a position in design engineering at a company called Cummins in Columbus, Indiana (they design diesel engines for trucks and heavy machinery). About a month later he heard back from the company and was excited to hear that he had gotten the position, he was very relieved to get such a great job!

Although we were both happy he finally got good paying job in a nice area, it was a bittersweet reality. Over the past month Richie and I have been shopping for things to fill an apartment from items such as toothpaste, to dishes and silverware, and a new bed. (and if you can imagine, it wasn't the cheapest shopping trip ever!). My family and I also had a surprise going away party for him last weekend to celebrate his accomplishments. It turned out really well, he got to see a lot of his friends from college and high school, along with family members he hasn't seen in a while. Although he usually doesn't like surprises (he's quite shy), he said that the party was the best present he could ask for!

Last week we made the long drive of ten hours to Columbus, IN to finally get him settled in. When we got there we immediately started making a list of all the things we needed to buy to fill his apartment. The next two days were filled with countless trips to Wal-Mart, the electric company, Comcast (television), and even Verizon to set up a new cell phone service. With all of the shopping trips we made, we also got to see the town- which is very beautiful. It is surrounded by five lakes, and also has really good hunting- this was something that Richie was very excited about!

Even though I am beyond proud of Richie and all that he has worked for, I still didn't want him to leave. Saying goodbye at the airport on Saturday morning was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I am so used to being with him everyday, and being able to go to him when I have a problem or just need to talk. Now he is nine hours away, and because of this I'll only be able to see him once a month- if that.

Although it will be very tough to get used to, for the both of us, in the long run it is worth it. Richie was able to get a very good job, and will be able to transfer within the company in the next few years; and hopefully these next years will go by fast, because I already miss him like crazy!!

Thank God for cell-phones, email, Skype, ohhh and I can't forget about Facebook ;)

New Baby!!

This past month, one of my good friends had a baby. Him and his fiance, along with all our friends, have been waiting nine whole months for him to finally arrive! It felt as if those nine months dragged on forever, I can't imagine what it feels like for his mother. Colton Dallas Martin was born on September 15 weighing in at 7 pounds 7 ounces- perfect size :) Here's a picture...

Labor Day Weekend

Every year my family has a huge get together on Labor Day Weekend. Our entire family, plus friends, all gather at my cousin's house on the outskirts of Melrose, along with TONS of food, games, and of course beer. Although I am not a fan of being outside when there is even a slight chill, this weekend is always one of my favorites of the year- cold or not. There are always tons of memories made and shared, and we never forget to go down memory lane as well! Hopefully this year will turn out just as fun as the rest- shouldn't be hard, considering how crazy and fun my family is!

Here are just a few pictures :)

Grandma and Grandpa <3

too cold for me!

First off, I can't stand this cold weather- just a  few days ago, it was 90 degrees and now I'm outside wearing a jeans and a jacket. I am the type of person that needs to be living on a tropical island where it doesn't reach below 75 degrees... now THAT would by my version of perfect weather!

First Blog!

I've never been an author of a blog before, so this should be interesting!
